Huaraz is a city in Peru, capital of the department of Ancash and the province of Huaraz, as well as the seat of the Regional Government of Ancash. It is a tourist destination for the practice of mountain adventure sports. It is also known as "the very noble and generous city" denomination dating from the era of the struggle for the independence of Peru, this due to the fervor and detachment shown by its inhabitants who were united by the emancipatory cause.
